Five quarter designs are included in the planned 2026 U.S. semiquincentennial coinage.
The coinage program includes special 2026 designs connected with the 250th anniversary of American independence. Its quarter series contains five designs, while other denominations receive their own planned treatments. One quarter design was required to depict women’s contributions to independence.
The program was authorized through the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020. That law allowed special circulating designs for the semiquincentennial and related commemorative programs. The U.S. Mint works with advisory bodies during the design-selection process.
The five-quarter figure applies specifically to the quarter series. It should not be confused with the total number of semiquincentennial coin denominations, which includes cents, nickels, dimes, half dollars, and a dollar coin.
