Pokémon Bank could hold up to 3,000 Pokémon.
Released for Nintendo 3DS, Pokémon Bank was an online storage application that allowed players to deposit Pokémon from compatible games. It functioned as a cloud-based box system rather than as a conventional adventure game, helping players move and organize Pokémon across supported titles.
The service supported games including Pokémon X and Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon Sun and Moon, and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. A separate tool called Poké Transporter enabled transfers from certain earlier games, including the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow.
The 3,000-Pokémon capacity was much larger than the storage boxes available inside any one traditional game. Pokémon Bank was not the same service as Pokémon Home, which later expanded cloud storage and compatibility for newer platforms. Pokémon Bank’s exact functionality depended on the game version and whether a Pokémon held an item or had a form that the service could not store.
