Porsche achieved 19 overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans up to 2023.
Porsche’s first overall win came in 1970 with the Porsche 917, driven by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood. The marque followed with another 917 victory in 1971, then became the dominant force of the 1980s. Porsche won seven consecutive editions from 1981 through 1987, using cars such as the 956 and 962.
Its later victories included the Dauer 962-based entry in 1994, the TWR Porsche WSC-95 in 1996 and 1997, and the Porsche 911 GT1-98 in 1998. Porsche returned to the top class with the hybrid 919 in 2015, 2016 and 2017, bringing the total to 19.
The figure refers to overall race victories, not class wins. Porsche has also accumulated a much larger number of class victories, which is why some lists show a different total. It is also a manufacturer count; team records, such as those for Joest Racing, are tracked separately.
