At the 86th Academy Awards in 2014, Frozen became the first Walt Disney Animation Studios production to win Best Animated Feature. The film’s creative team, including directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho, received the award.
The second Oscar went to songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez for “Let It Go,” performed in the film by Idina Menzel. The song’s victory is sometimes confused with awards won by the soundtrack or by Menzel personally; the Oscar recognized the songwriters.
Frozen also won other major honors, including the BAFTA for Best Animated Film and five Annie Awards, but those prizes are separate from its two Academy Awards.
