The 2026–27 Premier League opening round had 10 matches in total.
The competition had 20 teams, so a complete match round paired every club once and required 10 fixtures. Those games were scheduled across Friday 21 August, Saturday 22 August, Sunday 23 August and Monday 24 August 2026.
Arsenal versus Coventry City opened the season, while Fulham versus Chelsea was the final match of the opening round. The other fixtures included Hull City versus Manchester United, Ipswich Town versus Sunderland, Nottingham Forest versus Leeds United, Everton versus Crystal Palace, Brentford versus Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City versus Bournemouth, Brighton versus Aston Villa and Newcastle versus Liverpool.
The 10-match total should not be confused with the 380 matches in the full season. A 20-team double round-robin league produces 38 match rounds per club and 380 matches overall.
