How many official Pokémon species has Eevee evolved into?

The story behind the answer

Eevee has evolved into eight official species.

These eight evolutions are commonly called Eeveelutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. Each one changes Eevee into a different type or type combination and uses a distinct evolution method.

The first three appeared in the original games: Vaporeon is Water-type, Jolteon is Electric-type, and Flareon is Fire-type. Generation II added the friendship-based Psychic-type Espeon and Dark-type Umbreon. Later generations introduced Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

Eevee is unusual because its unstable genetic makeup allows it to adapt to several environmental influences. Evolution stones, friendship, location, and knowledge of a Fairy-type move have all been used for its different forms. Eevee itself is numbered 133 in the National Pokédex, while its evolutions occupy several separate entries.
