Pokémon Diamond and Pearl introduced 107 new Pokémon species.
Game Freak released the paired Nintendo DS role-playing games in Japan in 2006. They take place in the Sinnoh region, where players investigate Team Galactic while pursuing Gym Badges and completing the Pokédex.
The new species included starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, along with legendary Pokémon such as Dialga and Palkia. Diamond and Pearl also added many new evolutions for Pokémon from earlier generations, including Electivire, Magmortar, and Rhyperior.
The figure 107 counts species first introduced in Generation IV, not every Pokémon obtainable in the games. That distinction matters because Diamond and Pearl also allow players to encounter and trade Pokémon from previous generations.
