Red is the basic red cardinal and has no special mid-flight power in the classic game. The Blues split into three smaller birds, Chuck accelerates rapidly, Bomb explodes, and Matilda drops an egg-shaped explosive projectile before flying upward. Later updates and related games introduced additional birds such as Terence, Hal, Bubbles, and Stella. That expanded roster is why some lists give a higher number. However, the original five-member flock is the standard answer when the question refers to the main bird types in the original game. The Blues count as one type even though they split into three individual birds.
