How many kills wins a Valorant Deathmatch game?

A VALORANT Deathmatch game is won by reaching 40 kills, unless the nine-minute time limit expires first.

Deathmatch is VALORANT’s free-for-all practice mode. Players fight independently rather than in attacking and defending teams, choose weapons from the available buy menu, respawn after dying, and play without agent abilities. The first player to reach the kill target wins immediately.

The mode originally used a lower limit of 30 kills. Riot increased that limit to 40 and extended the time limit from six minutes to nine minutes in patch 1.10, released in October 2020. That change made matches longer and gave players more time to practice gunfights across the map.

The 40-kill figure applies to standard Deathmatch, not Team Deathmatch. Team Deathmatch is a separate 5v5 mode whose team victory target is 100 kills. If nobody reaches 40 kills in Deathmatch before the clock runs out, the player with the most kills wins.
