How many horsepower does the Mercedes-AMG One produce?

The story behind the answer

The Mercedes-AMG One produces 1,049 hp from its combined hybrid powertrain.

That figure is the horsepower conversion of the car’s official system output: 782 kW, or 1,063 PS. The distinction matters because PS, the metric horsepower unit commonly used in European specifications, is slightly larger than mechanical horsepower. Thus, 1,063 PS converts to approximately 1,049 hp.

The AMG One combines a 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 derived from Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 power-unit technology with four electric machines. One motor drives the turbocharger, another assists the engine, and two electric motors power the front wheels. Together, the system provides all-wheel drive and a highly sophisticated plug-in hybrid layout.

The road car was unveiled in production form in 2022, after extensive delays caused by the challenge of adapting F1-derived technology to road-car emissions, noise, durability, and reliability requirements. Production was limited to 275 examples. Its 352 km/h top speed is a separate specification and should not be confused with the power figure.
