The longest Wimbledon men’s singles final lasted 68 games. Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the 2019 final by a score of 7–6, 1–6, 7–6, 4–6, 13–12, with the deciding set ending in a tiebreak.
Adding the games in each set produces 13, 7, 13, 10 and 25 games, for a total of 68. The match lasted 4 hours and 57 minutes, making it the longest singles final in Wimbledon history at the time. Djokovic saved two championship points before winning the deciding tiebreak 7–3.
This record refers specifically to the final, not the longest match ever played at Wimbledon. That separate record belongs to John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, whose 2010 first-round match lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes over three days. Their fifth set alone ended 70–68, meaning it contained more games than the entire 2019 final.
The 2019 final was also historically important because it was the first Wimbledon men’s singles final played under the tournament’s new final-set tiebreak rule at 12–12.
