Michael Jordan played 82 games in his final NBA season, the 2002–03 campaign with the Washington Wizards.
At age 40, Jordan was the only Wizard to appear in every regular-season game. He started 67 contests and came off the bench in 15, an unusual adjustment made partly to manage his knees and preserve his effectiveness. He averaged 20.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Jordan’s final season ended on April 16, 2003, when Washington lost to Philadelphia. The Wizards finished 37–45 and missed the playoffs, but Jordan still produced several memorable performances, including a 43-point game that made him the first 40-year-old to score 40 or more in an NBA game.
A common mix-up is confusing his 82 appearances with his 67 starts. He played in every game, but did not start them all.
