Jonny Flynn started 81 games during his rookie season. He did so for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2009–10 NBA season, appearing in 81 of the team's regular-season games and starting every one of them.
Flynn was selected sixth overall in the 2009 NBA draft after two seasons at Syracuse. As a rookie point guard, he shared the Minnesota backcourt with veteran Sebastian Telfair and fellow rookie guards, while also handling a major playmaking role. Flynn averaged 13.5 points, 4.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game that season.
The number 81 can be easy to confuse with the standard 82-game NBA regular season. Flynn missed one game, but he started all 81 contests in which he played. His rookie year was also his busiest NBA season; a hip injury and subsequent surgery affected his development, and he never again matched that level of playing time.
