How many episodes are in Book One: Air?

Book One: Air has 12 episodes. It is the first season of The Legend of Korra, the animated sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The season follows Korra, the Avatar after Aang, as she travels from the Southern Water Tribe to Republic City to learn airbending from Tenzin. There, she becomes involved in the Equalist uprising led by the masked revolutionary Amon. The 12-episode structure was deliberate: Book One was initially planned as a self-contained miniseries rather than the opening chapter of a 52-episode saga.

The episodes were released on Nickelodeon from April 14 through June 23, 2012. Its final two chapters, “Skeletons in the Closet” and “Endgame,” resolve the conflict with Amon and reveal the connection between Amon and Tarrlok. A common mix-up is confusing Book One’s 12 episodes with the 14 episodes in Book Two: Spirits. Across all four books, The Legend of Korra ultimately contains 52 episodes.
