How many days did Banksy’s 2015 exhibition Dismaland run?

The story behind the answer

Banksy’s 2015 exhibition Dismaland ran for 36 days.

Dismaland opened at the abandoned Tropicana lido in Weston-super-Mare, England, on 21 August 2015 and closed on 27 September 2015. Banksy described it as a “bemusement park,” parodying the cheerful design and commercial logic of conventional theme parks.

The temporary event brought together Banksy’s installations with works by other artists, including Damien Hirst, Jenny Holzer and Jeff Gillette. Its attractions addressed themes such as consumerism, surveillance, migration and political frustration.

The dates are sometimes remembered as roughly one month because the exhibition lasted only a short season. Counting from its opening to its closing gives a 36-day run. Afterward, some of the structures were dismantled and sent to a refugee camp in Calais.
