Ships from 30 countries were expected to join Operation Sail 2026 for America250.
Operation Sail, commonly called OpSail, is a maritime celebration featuring tall ships and naval vessels. The 2026 edition was planned as part of the United States’ 250th-anniversary observances, with ships expected to visit several American ports and participate in races between locations.
The planned schedule included New Orleans, Norfolk, Baltimore, New York City, and Boston between late May and mid-July. New York City’s July 4 activities were expected to include the U.S. Navy’s seventh International Fleet Review, incorporating OpSail 2026.
The figure of 30 countries describes the expected international participation, not the number of host cities or the number of ships. Planning material also described an anticipated fleet of about 60 ships. Because these were advance expectations, they should not be read as a final audited attendance total.
