Roger Federer won 65 consecutive grass-court matches.
The streak began at the 2003 Halle Open and continued through Wimbledon victories in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. It ended when Rafael Nadal defeated him in the 2008 Wimbledon final.
This was not simply a Wimbledon-only record. Federer’s run combined matches at Halle with his Wimbledon campaigns, reflecting his dominance across the grass-court season. During that period he also won ten consecutive grass-court titles from 2003 through 2008.
The streak is often confused with Federer’s Wimbledon match-winning run, which was shorter. The 65-match figure refers to tour-level matches on grass across tournaments, and remains the longest such streak by a male player in the Open Era. Nadal’s five-set victory in 2008 therefore ended both Federer’s Wimbledon reign and an extraordinary surface-specific record.
