Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos had won two consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles by the 2026 Cincinnati Open.
The Brazilian pair won the 2026 Canadian Open in Montreal immediately before Cincinnati, then followed it with the Cincinnati men’s doubles title. In Cincinnati, they defeated Constantin Frantzen and Robin Haase, 6–4, 3–6, [10–7].
That back-to-back achievement made Luz and Matos the first men’s doubles pair to win both the Canadian and Cincinnati titles in the same year since Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in 2017. They were also described as the fifth pair overall to achieve the same Open Era double.
The match used a deciding match tiebreak rather than a traditional third set, which is standard for many doubles finals. Their Cincinnati victory therefore combined a title repeat across tournaments with a dramatic match-tiebreak finish.
