Coco Gauff had won two Cincinnati Open singles titles after the 2026 tournament.
Gauff captured her first Cincinnati title in 2023 and returned to win the 2026 edition. Her second championship came in an all-American final against Jessica Pegula, whom she defeated 6–2, 6–4.
The achievement placed Gauff in an exclusive group of two-time Cincinnati women’s singles champions. Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka were also identified as members of that group, linking Gauff’s result to notable recent tournament history.
The Cincinnati title was especially meaningful because it was Gauff’s first WTA Tour singles title of 2026. It also came shortly before the US Open, where she had previously won her first Grand Slam singles championship in 2023.
