The original Chronicles of Narnia series contains seven books. C. S. Lewis published the novels between 1950 and 1956, creating a connected fantasy saga about the world of Narnia and the children who encounter it.
The seven titles are The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, The Magician's Nephew, and The Last Battle. They were originally released in publication order, although many modern editions number them according to the internal chronology of Narnia.
That numbering change is the source of a common confusion. The Magician's Nephew is often labeled Book One in chronological editions because its story occurs earliest in Narnian history. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe remains the first book published and the story in which most readers first discover Narnia.
The books are sometimes sold in boxed sets with extra introductions, illustrations, or companion material, but the original fictional series itself remains seven novels.
