A traditional full quinceañera court includes 28 attendants besides the celebrant: 14 girls and 14 boys.
The 14 pairs symbolically represent the celebrant’s first 14 years, while the quinceañera represents the fifteenth year. The group may be called the court of honor, and its members often participate in a formal entrance or choreographed dance.
This arrangement is a traditional model rather than a universal requirement. Contemporary families may choose a smaller court, an all-girl group, mixed friends, relatives, or no court at all. Regional practice and personal preference affect the format.
The court should not be confused with the total number of people in the ceremony. Including the celebrant, the traditional group contains 29 young people.
