Hollister Co. is a subsidiary of which company?
Answer
Abercrombie & Fitch
Answer
Abercrombie & Fitch
Hollister Co. is a subsidiary of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. The parent company launched Hollister in 2000 as a younger, more casual brand built around a Southern California surf-inspired image.
Abercrombie & Fitch itself has a much older history: David Abercrombie founded the original outdoor-goods business in New York City in 1892, and Ezra Fitch later joined the company. Hollister, by contrast, was created as a modern brand concept rather than inherited from the original outfitter business.
A common mix-up is confusing the brand with the city of Hollister, California. The clothing company is not affiliated with that city, even though its marketing and fictional backstory evoke California. Other A&F brands and divisions have included Abercrombie, Abercrombie Kids, and Gilly Hicks.
