For America’s 250th anniversary, the quarter receives five new circulating designs in 2026.
The United States Mint’s Semiquincentennial coin program introduces temporary design changes across several denominations. The five quarter reverses are intended to represent aspects of American history and the nation’s continuing story. The coins carry the dual date 1776–2026.
The quarter is especially suited to a multi-design program because the United States has previously used the denomination for large commemorative series, including the 50 State Quarters and America the Beautiful quarters. The 2026 designs therefore connect the anniversary to a familiar collecting tradition.
Other 2026 coins also receive anniversary-related treatments, including changes to the nickel, dime, half dollar, dollar, and penny. The quarter’s five-design format should not be confused with the single new design used for some other denominations.
