Finish The Lyric: "Every breath you take"?

The story behind the answer

The lyric “Every breath you take” is followed by “Every move you make.” It comes from “Every Breath You Take,” the Police’s 1983 hit written by Sting.

The song appeared on the band’s fifth and final studio album, Synchronicity, and became one of their signature recordings. It topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and the UK singles chart for four weeks.

Although often treated as a romantic song, Sting has described its mood as sinister. The narrator watches and controls another person, making the lyrics closer to an obsessive surveillance monologue than a straightforward love song.

The song has also had a major afterlife in popular culture. Puff Daddy and Faith Evans sampled it for “I’ll Be Missing You” in 1997, while a memorable dance scene in Stranger Things introduced it to a new generation.
