During the 2018 MLS regular season, each team play how many games?

The story behind the answer

During the 2018 MLS regular season, each team played 34 games.

The 2018 season was Major League Soccer's 23rd and featured 23 clubs divided between Eastern and Western conferences. Every club played 17 matches at home and 17 away, producing a balanced 34-game regular-season schedule.

The schedule was not a simple double round-robin against every MLS opponent. Teams played conference opponents multiple times, while cross-conference opponents were generally faced once. Western Conference clubs had some additional intra-conference games because the conferences contained different numbers of teams.

The 34-game figure applies only to the regular season. Clubs that qualified for the MLS Cup playoffs played additional matches, and the eventual champions, Atlanta United FC, played beyond the regular-season schedule. The 2018 regular season ran from 3 March through 28 October, before the playoffs began.
