During the 1929 Wall Street Crash, what was the name of the day called Black Tuesday?

The story behind the answer

Black Tuesday, one of the defining sessions of the 1929 Wall Street Crash, occurred on October 29, 1929.

On that day, roughly 16 million shares changed hands on the New York Stock Exchange, a record at the time. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell sharply as investors rushed to sell. Black Tuesday followed Black Thursday on October 24 and Black Monday on October 28, creating a sequence of panic-filled sessions.

The crash ended the speculative boom of the 1920s, although share prices continued falling after October. The Dow eventually reached a low in July 1932, far below its 1929 peak. The market collapse became a highly visible symbol of the economic crisis that developed into the Great Depression.

Black Tuesday is sometimes described as the sole beginning of the Depression, but that is too simple. The crash was a major financial shock, while banking failures, unemployment, falling production, and international economic problems deepened the disaster.
