During Operation Sail 2026, New Orleans was scheduled as the first port of call.
Operation Sail, commonly known as OpSail, is a maritime celebration featuring tall ships and related public events. The 2026 edition was planned as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary observances and was expected to be the largest gathering of tall ships since 1976.
The scheduled route began in New Orleans from May 28 to June 1. Ships were then expected to visit Norfolk, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; New York City; and Boston. The sequence connected major American ports with an international fleet of sailing vessels.
Participating vessels were expected to include ships from countries such as Italy, Indonesia, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Denmark, and Poland. The event links modern maritime display with the naval and commercial history of the Atlantic world.
