Didi Chuxing is headquartered in Beijing. The Chinese mobility company began in 2012 as Didi Dache, a smartphone-based taxi-hailing service founded by Cheng Wei. Its headquarters are in Beijing’s Haidian district, placing the company in China’s national capital rather than one of the other major cities listed.

DiDi expanded quickly in China and merged with rival Kuaidi Dache in 2015, taking the name Didi Chuxing. In 2016, it acquired Uber’s China operations in exchange for an equity stake, strengthening its position in the Chinese ride-hailing market.
