Deep Cut previously appeared in which 2022 game?

Deep Cut previously appeared in the 2022 game Splatoon 3. The trio—Shiver, Frye, and Big Man—are the game's idol group and serve as its news presenters, introducing players to current stages, events, and Splatfests.

Splatoon 3 was released worldwide on September 9, 2022, for Nintendo Switch. Before launch, Nintendo presented the group during a Splatoon 3-focused Nintendo Direct in August 2022. Deep Cut quickly became one of the game's most recognizable new additions.

The group is sometimes confused with the Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, or Off the Hook, Pearl and Marina. Those earlier idol duos belonged to the original Splatoon and Splatoon 2, respectively. Deep Cut is specific to Splatoon 3's launch-era cast.

The name also appears in connection with the game's Splatfests, where Deep Cut members often represent competing sides. Their roles combine the broadcast function of earlier idol groups with a stronger presence in the game's story and world-building.
