Besides Taylor Swift, who co-wrote Taylor Swift’s “august”?

Jack Antonoff co-wrote Taylor Swift’s “august.”

Antonoff and Swift had already collaborated on songs for 1989, Reputation, and Lover before working together on Folklore. For “august,” Antonoff first created the instrumental and sent it to Swift, who wrote the lyrics intuitively in response to the music.

The pair also co-produced the song. Their production combines guitars, strings, keyboards, and extensive vocal reverberation to create the hazy, late-summer atmosphere associated with the track.

Aaron Dessner is an important Folklore collaborator, but he did not co-write “august.” Joe Alwyn was credited as an additional producer after the album’s Grammy recognition, not as the song’s co-writer. That distinction explains why Antonoff is the canonical songwriting answer.
