Before Lucky, Jonathan Tropper co-created the Cinemax series Banshee.
Banshee premiered on Cinemax in January 2013 and ran for four seasons through 2016. Tropper co-created the crime drama with David Schickler, while Alan Ball helped develop and produce the project. The story follows an ex-convict who assumes the identity of Lucas Hood, the newly appointed sheriff of the fictional Pennsylvania town of Banshee.
Antony Starr played Lucas Hood, whose attempt to hide from his criminal past drives the series’ main conflict. Banshee became known for its stylized action, violent confrontations, and morally complicated characters. Tropper also served as showrunner and wrote or directed episodes during the run.
A likely source of confusion is Warrior, another Cinemax series associated with Tropper. He created Warrior as well, but it premiered later, in 2019, and is based on ideas attributed to Bruce Lee. Vinyl and See involved Tropper as a writer or showrunner, not as Banshee’s co-created series.
