At whose house did Harrison write Here Comes the Sun?

George Harrison wrote “Here Comes the Sun” at Eric Clapton’s house. In early 1969, Harrison took a break from stressful Beatles business meetings and visited Clapton’s country home, Hurtwood Edge, in Surrey. While walking through the garden with his acoustic guitar, he began developing the song.

The composition reflected Harrison’s relief at escaping the Beatles’ tense administrative affairs and the arrival of spring after a cold, difficult winter. He later completed the lyrics while on holiday in Sardinia. Clapton recalled watching the song take shape and said he felt proud that his garden had helped inspire it.

The Beatles recorded the song at EMI Studios in London in July and August 1969. Harrison sang and played guitar, while Paul McCartney added bass and backing vocals and Ringo Starr played drums. John Lennon did not perform because he was recovering from a car accident. The finished track opened side two of Abbey Road, released on 26 September 1969.
