At which Super Bowl did Prince headline the halftime show?

The story behind the answer

Prince headlined the halftime show at Super Bowl XLI. The performance took place on February 4, 2007, at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, during the Indianapolis Colts’ victory over the Chicago Bears.

His approximately 12-minute set opened with “We Will Rock You” and included “Let’s Go Crazy,” “1999,” “Baby I’m a Star,” and covers of “Proud Mary,” “All Along the Watchtower,” and Foo Fighters’ “Best of You.” He closed with “Purple Rain.”

The show became especially memorable because heavy rain fell during the performance, including while Prince played “Purple Rain.” He performed with the New Power Generation, dancers known as The Twinz, and Florida A&M University’s Marching 100. The stage was shaped like Prince’s Love Symbol.

A common mix-up is Super Bowl LII, whose halftime performer was Justin Timberlake. Timberlake later paid tribute to Prince during that 2018 show, but Prince’s own halftime appearance was at Super Bowl XLI.
