Arsenal vs Coventry City was played at Emirates Stadium on the 2026–27 Premier League opening night.
The match took place on Friday 21 August 2026, when Arsenal began its defence of the Premier League title. Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home ground in Holloway, London, and it hosted the campaign’s first league match.
Arsenal marked the occasion with a 3–0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City. The result meant the home side opened the season with three points and a clean sheet, while Coventry’s return to the division began away from home.
The stadium is sometimes confused with Wembley Stadium because major English football matches are often associated with Wembley. Arsenal’s regular home, however, is Emirates Stadium. Other opening-weekend fixtures were played at grounds including the MKM Stadium, Anfield, the Etihad Stadium and Craven Cottage.
