At which golf course did Tiger Woods win his first PGA Tour event?

The story behind the answer

Tiger Woods won his first PGA Tour event at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. He captured the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational, now known as the Shriners Children’s Open, in a playoff against Davis Love III.

The victory came only a few months after Woods turned professional in August 1996. He had already made an immediate impact with strong performances in his first professional starts, but the Las Vegas win was his first official PGA Tour title. At age 20, he became one of the tour’s youngest winners and was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

The Las Vegas Invitational used a five-round, 90-hole format rather than the standard four-round structure. Woods defeated Love in the playoff after finishing the event tied at the top. His powerful driving, especially for that era, drew enormous attention and helped establish the image of Woods as golf’s next superstar.

TPC Summerlin remains closely associated with the tournament, although the event has changed sponsors and names over time. Muirfield Village, Bay Hill, and Torrey Pines were also important venues in Woods’s career, but none was the site of his first PGA Tour victory.
