At which course was the 2025 Open Championship played?

The story behind the answer

The 2025 Open Championship was played at Royal Portrush Golf Club. The course's Dunluce Links hosted the 153rd Open from 17 to 20 July 2025 in Portrush, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Scottie Scheffler won the championship with a score of 267, or 17 under par. He finished four strokes ahead of Harris English, earning his first Open title and fourth major championship. The event was Royal Portrush's third Open, following the 1951 and 2019 championships.

Royal Portrush is unusual on the Open rota because it is located in Northern Ireland rather than England or Scotland. Max Faulkner won the first Open held there in 1951, while Ireland's Shane Lowry won when the championship returned in 2019. Scheffler became the third winner at the venue.

St Andrews, Royal Troon and Royal Birkdale are all famous Open venues, but none hosted the 2025 edition. Royal Birkdale was the next venue, scheduled to stage the 2026 Open in July.
