Taylor Swift’s “august” debuted at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Its debut appeared on the chart dated August 8, 2020, shortly after Folklore was released. The song entered the chart alongside many other Folklore tracks, reflecting the album’s unusually strong opening week and Swift’s extensive streaming audience.
The number 23 is the song’s initial Hot 100 entry, not its position on every chart. “august” also performed differently on genre and international charts, including a number-five peak on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and top-20 placements in several countries.
Because the song resurges every August, later chart and streaming activity can be mistaken for its original debut. Its first Hot 100 appearance, however, belongs to the album’s 2020 release period.
