Taylor Swift’s “august” debuted at number 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Its first chart appearance was dated August 8, 2020, shortly after Folklore’s release.
The song was one of 16 Folklore tracks to enter the Hot 100 at the same time. That broad chart performance reflected the album’s immediate popularity and the substantial listening activity generated by its surprise release.
“august” stayed on the Hot 100 for two consecutive weeks. Its later annual streaming surges are a separate part of its chart story: listeners repeatedly return to the track around its namesake month, even though the song was not initially released as a conventional major single.
