At the Vienna New Year's Concert, which Johann Strauss II composition is traditionally performed near the end?

The story behind the answer

At the Vienna New Year's Concert, Johann Strauss II's The Blue Danube is traditionally performed near the end.

The piece's full German title is An der schönen blauen Donau, meaning “On the Beautiful Blue Danube.” It was composed by Johann Strauss II and first performed in 1867. Although its first version included a chorus, the orchestral version became the internationally familiar one.

The concert is performed by the Vienna Philharmonic in the Musikverein's Golden Hall. The Blue Danube is normally followed by the Radetzky March, during which the audience traditionally claps along under the conductor's direction.

The Radetzky March is therefore the customary finale, while The Blue Danube is the famous waltz performed immediately before it. Both are associated with the broadcast, but they do not have the same position.
