At the beginning of season 9 of The Office, Kelly gets engaged to Ravi.
Ravi is a pediatrician whom Pam and Jim introduce to Kelly during season 8, hoping to break up the exhausting cycle between Kelly and her former boyfriend, Ryan Howard. Kelly initially says she is in love with Ravi, although Ryan's dramatic attempts to win her back continue to complicate the relationship. By the season 9 premiere, Kelly and Ravi are engaged and planning a move to Ohio.
Their destination creates one of the episode's jokes: Ravi accepts a position at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and Kelly mistakenly believes she is moving to Miami, Florida. She leaves her Dunder Mifflin job and gives away many of her coats, while Ryan follows her to Ohio under the pretense of pursuing career opportunities. Ravi later returns in the series finale as Kelly's fiancé, but Ryan ultimately rekindles Kelly's obsession and she runs away with him, abandoning the engagement.
