At the 2nd Grammy Awards, Frank Sinatra’s album Come Dance with Me! won Album of the Year.

The ceremony took place on November 29, 1959, although it honored music released during the preceding eligibility period. Come Dance with Me! was Sinatra’s sixteenth studio album, released by Capitol Records on January 5, 1959. It was arranged and conducted by Billy May, whose energetic brass-and-swing style helped give the record its buoyant character.

The album was a major commercial success, remaining on the Billboard album chart for roughly two and a half years. Sinatra also won the Grammy for Best Vocal Performance, Male, for the album. Billy May received the award for Best Arrangement, making the project one of the evening’s standout winners.

A common mix-up is Nice ’n’ Easy, another successful Sinatra album that was nominated for Album of the Year at the 3rd Grammy Awards but did not win. Only the Lonely and Come Fly with Me were also Sinatra albums, but neither won this particular award.
