At the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, what major jury honor did Quinceañera win?

Quinceañera won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.

The film also received Sundance’s Audience Award in the dramatic competition, giving it both a jury honor and a strong audience response. Those awards helped draw attention to its story about a Mexican-American family in Echo Park, Los Angeles.

Sundance’s Grand Jury Prize is awarded by a festival jury to recognize an outstanding film in its competition category. It is distinct from the Audience Award, which is determined by festivalgoers.

The film’s Sundance success is separate from the quinceañera tradition itself. The title refers to the central family celebration, while the awards recognize the movie’s writing, direction, performances, and overall dramatic achievement.
