At London's New Year's Eve fireworks, which clock tower landmark is commonly known by the name Big Ben?

The story behind the answer

At London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, the landmark commonly known by the name Big Ben is the Elizabeth Tower.

The tower stands at the north end of the Palace of Westminster and contains the Great Clock. Strictly speaking, “Big Ben” is the nickname of the Great Bell inside the tower, although everyday speech often uses the name for the entire structure. The tower itself was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.

London’s New Year’s Eve celebration uses the clock’s midnight chimes and a major fireworks display along the River Thames. The nearby Victoria Tower is a different Westminster landmark, so the two names should not be treated as interchangeable.
