At Dubai's New Year's Eve celebration, the skyscraper famous for its synchronized fireworks and light display is Burj Khalifa.
Burj Khalifa stands in Downtown Dubai and has served as the visual centerpiece of large annual celebrations since its opening-era festivities. The tower's height, illuminated exterior, and position beside the Dubai Fountain make it visible from a wide area. Productions have combined fireworks with LED animations and music, turning the building itself into part of the show.
The tower opened officially in 2010 and remains the world's tallest completed building, according to widely used architectural records. Its New Year's event is often described as happening at the Dubai Mall, but the landmark anchoring the display is Burj Khalifa. Burj Al Arab, another instantly recognizable Dubai building, is sometimes offered as an answer because it also appears in city celebrations, but it is not the skyscraper associated with this countdown centerpiece.
