The group of honored escorts accompanying a quinceañera is called the court of honor. Its members commonly participate in the entrance, formal photographs, choreographed dances, and other public parts of the celebration.
The court traditionally includes girls called damas and boys called chambelanes, although modern families may choose different combinations or titles. The group can represent the honoree’s close friends, relatives, or both.
Unlike a wedding party, the court of honor is not part of a marriage ceremony and has no universal required size. Its clothing and responsibilities vary considerably. Some celebrations use a large formal court, while others have only a few attendants or none at all.
