Alan Frew, author of 2007's "The Action Sandwich," was also the lead singer of the 1980s pop-rock group Glass Tiger.
Frew was born in Scotland and later became a prominent Canadian singer, songwriter, author, and speaker. He rose to fame as the frontman of Glass Tiger, a band formed in Newmarket, Ontario, in the early 1980s. The group became one of Canada's best-known rock exports during that decade.
Glass Tiger is especially associated with the 1986 album "The Thin Red Line," which produced major hits including "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" and "Someday." Frew's distinctive voice was central to the band's sound, and both songs became internationally recognized successes.
The book title can cause a small mix-up: "The Action Sandwich" is not a Glass Tiger album or song. It is Frew's 2007 motivational autobiography, subtitled "A Six Step Recipe to Success by Doing What You're Already Doing." His career therefore spans both popular music and motivational writing.
