According to the Book of Exodus, what was the name of the craftsman appointed to make the Tabernacle?

The story behind the answer

According to the Book of Exodus, Bezalel was the craftsman appointed to make the Tabernacle. Exodus describes God filling him with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and skill for artistic work.

Bezalel was from the tribe of Judah and was the son of Uri, son of Hur. He worked under the broader direction of Moses and was associated with the construction of the sanctuary, its furnishings, and the priests’ sacred garments.

Oholiab, from the tribe of Dan, was appointed to assist Bezalel. Readers sometimes confuse the two names because both are specifically named as skilled artisans for the Tabernacle. Hur and Uri were members of Bezalel’s family, but neither was the principal craftsman named for this work.

The Tabernacle was the portable sanctuary used by the Israelites during their wilderness journey. Exodus presents its construction as a carefully ordered project using materials such as gold, silver, bronze, wood, woven fabric, and precious stones.
