Mount Everest's official height, announced by China and Nepal in 2020, is 8,848.86 metres above sea level. The joint measurement replaced several earlier estimates.

Nepal and China announced the figure together on 8 December 2020. The survey included the snow and ice cap at the summit, following a modern measurement campaign conducted by both countries.

Earlier official heights differed because survey techniques, reference systems and decisions about the summit snow cap varied. Everest's rock summit is slightly lower than the snow-capped height usually quoted, but the 2020 joint figure is the accepted official elevation.
