Genesis gives Noah’s Ark dimensions as 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. These measurements appear in Genesis 6:15, immediately after the instructions to build the vessel.

A cubit was an ancient unit based approximately on the length from an adult’s elbow to the tip of the middle finger. Its exact length varied by culture and period, so converting the ark’s dimensions into modern metres or feet involves an estimate. Using a common cubit of about 45 centimetres gives roughly 135 metres long, 22.5 metres wide, and 13.5 metres high.

The biblical proportions produce a long, broad vessel rather than a conventional sailing ship. Genesis does not describe sails, oars, or a steering system; the story presents the ark as a survival vessel carried by the floodwaters.
