Who defeated the Bears by one point in their opening game for the 2018 NFL season?

The story behind the answer

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears by one point in their opening game of the 2018 NFL season, winning 24–23 on September 9, 2018.

Played at Lambeau Field, the game looked almost certain to belong to Chicago when the Bears built a 20–0 lead early in the second half. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had injured his left knee and missed the rest of the first half, but he returned after halftime and sparked Green Bay’s comeback with three touchdown passes.

The decisive score came when Rodgers connected with Randall Cobb for a 75-yard touchdown with 2:13 remaining. That play gave Green Bay its first lead, and the Packers’ defense held on to secure the victory. It was one of the most dramatic comebacks of Rodgers’ career and the Packers’ first win after entering the fourth quarter at least 17 points behind.

A common mix-up is the teams’ second meeting that season: Chicago won that December rematch 24–17 and clinched the NFC North. The opening-game winner, however, was Green Bay.
